Jesse steps out of the training range and immediately regrets it; the air is cold and biting and not even the serape wrapped around his neck can keep the chill out. He rubs his gloved hands together and he looks around, squinting at the glare of the snow. It’s a beautiful day, the mountains are covered in snow and the sky is blue, but it doesn’t mean anything out here; it’s always winter at watchpoint: Bern.

He spots Genji perched at the very edge of the farthest platform and swears under his breath; he’s always telling him that cowboys can’t fly or jump or climb or whatever it is that ninja like him do, but he suspects that Genji enjoys giving him grief. He starts walking, gritting his teeth against the cutting wind; by the time he reaches the ninja, Jesse can’t feel his fucking face.
